Planning a Trip: Part 1

People are always looking to go on a vacation, they want to escape work, personal problems, or just go somewhere to relax and have no responsibilities. Some people look to go away to celebrate something, like a birthday, a wedding, or an engagement. There are many different reasons for traveling, so once you find yours it is time to plan a trip. Planning is probably the hardest part when going on vacation. There are so many steps and things you need to think about and setup. Today we are going to talk about deciding where to go. Here is Planning a Trip: Part 1.

The first step of planning a trip is deciding where you want to go. Often enough you aren't the only one going on the trip so you have to plan with other people on where you all want to go. Compromise is key.

Start off by deciding if you want to stay local, domestic, or international. That will help you decide where you are limited too. Often times you want to go on your dream vacation, but it isn't always feasible. This is where you will learn quickly if it is or isn't.

Come up with a budget on what everyone wants to spend. This will help you decide your vacation really well. You can decided how long you want to go, the amount of money you have to spend, and will allow you to start saving the money you will need to go on this trip.

Next have everyone make a list of where they want to go. Go through everyone's list and see if there are any places that are on everyone's list. If there are, decide if that is where you all for sure want to go. More than likely if it is on everyone's list then you might end up there.

If there isn't a place everyone wants to go, or some people are skeptical, tell everyone to pick 1 or 2 places they want to go and research it. During this research find things to do there, some hotels, how to get around, ect. You are trying to create a presentation to convince the other people this is where your vacation should be.

Present your places and go through and decide which one sounds like it is possible. Make sure it fits in your budget, you would enjoy going there, and if you would be happy with the vacation.

Once you have gone through all of this you have decided where you will be jetting off too, or driving off into the sunset toward. From there you get to start planning the fun stuff like hotels or Airbnbs, which airline are we taking or are we driving, how long will we be there, what tourist locations do we want to see, do we need to make reservations for things, etc.

Come back for part 2 about airlines and driving (if you can). Plus be on the lookout for all my posts while I am in the middle of planning my Walt Disney World trip, New Orleans trip, Las Vegas trip, and more. I can't wait to share everything with you.

  9. This is a good post :) Your tip about researching the place you're thinking about going to find things to do is absolutely key. I can't tell you how odd it is showing up somewhere and not knowing what to do with yourself :P I'm speaking from experience here hahaha. Can't wait to see the other parts in this series! <3
